| | | | | It's that time of year again, and the BBC Wildlife team is excitedly preparing for Birdfair 2012 at Rutland Water. Come and see us, rub shoulders with our experts, and pick up a copy of the magazine and other wildlife goodies. | | | Affectionately known as the birder's Glastonbury, the British Birdwatching Fair is one of the most important occasions in any nature-lovers diary. I've attended every year for nearly 10 years – and I still love it. Despite the name, Birdfair is not just about birds – there's plenty for everyone from lectures on Scottish wildcats and guided bat walks, to reviews of your photos by top professionals and the chance to watch experts ring birds. | | | | Come and see myself and Ben Hoare, BBC Wildlife's features editor, on stand 32-33 in Marquee 1, and you might bump into our columnists Mark Carwardine and Bill Oddie, photographers Danny Green and Charlie Hamilton James, and experts such as Jonathan Scott and David Lindo, among other familiar celebrity faces. And if you think you've seen it all before, you may be in for a big surprise. This year there will be wildlife workshops live on a big screen in the Events marquee | | | | Share the excitement as renowned insect artist Richard Lewington and moth expert Phil Sterling reveal the delights resting in their moth trap (set up the night before) and see what extraordinary critters popular presenter Nick Baker discovers in Rutland Water when he goes pond-dipping. So why not come along this year and join the fun? Sophie Stafford Editor, BBC Wildlife | | | |
